ABOUT ME -
Vicky Havill
Hi, I'm Vicky — a trail runner, running coach, and mum of two teenagers, based in Christchurch, New Zealand, where I live with my husband and our slightly chaotic family life.
I originally found running at 30, when I couldn’t even make it around the block without stopping. Step by step, I built myself up — not through talent, but through persistence, curiosity, and a quiet belief that I could do hard things. Eventually, those small efforts carried me all the way to finishing multiple ultramarathons and distances I had once thought I could only dream of.
As an epileptic I'm no stranger to adversity. I understand what it means to face real barriers, physically, emotionally, and mentally, and to keep showing up anyway. That experience shapes how I coach. I don’t just care about how far or fast you can run; I care about what you’re carrying, what you’re overcoming, and how we can make running a source of strength in your life, not just another pressure.
I'm a certified UESCA running and ultra running coach, and I work predominantly with women — with a particular focus on those 30 and over — who want to take on goals that feel just a little bit (or a lot) terrifying. Whether you're training for your first 10K, chasing a personal best on the trails, or tackling ultra distances, I’ll help you break down your goal into something achievable, realistic, and meaningful.
My coaching approach at Wild Runner Coaching is grounded in science and built around sustainable progress, injury prevention, and real-life flexibility. I’ll keep you accountable, but I’ll also meet you with understanding when life gets messy — because training should fit into your life, not take it over.
While my heart lives in ultras now, I’ll always remember where I started. Whether you’re running 5K or 50, I’ll meet you where you are at, and we’ll build from there — together.
